UN1Q Protocol 04 — Endurance
Build Your Engine
Stop getting tired so fast.
You gas out fast — not because you’re incapable, but because you have no aerobic base and "just push harder" was never a real plan.
The Problem
You get winded fast, workouts fall apart in the back half, and every failed attempt reinforces the idea that you’re "not built for endurance." That belief isn’t true. It’s a capacity gap, not a character flaw.
The Shift
Nobody builds an engine by deciding to have one. You get there through a progression — longer continuous efforts, structured recovery, building capacity in a direction, week by week, in whatever mode you actually do (running, cycling, rowing, general conditioning) — until the distance or duration that used to wreck you is just Tuesday.
What You Get
- A structured progression that builds time-under-effort from wherever you’re starting, in your own mode
- Week-by-week targets so you always know today’s effort
- Pacing and recovery guidance so you build capacity without burning out or getting hurt
- A real before/after capacity retest — how much longer you can sustain effort now, not a fabricated score
How It Works
Progressive weekly training blocks, each one slightly harder than the last, calibrated so the jump is always achievable — modality-agnostic, so it works whether you run, bike, swim, or row.
Who It’s For
Anyone who can’t sustain real cardio output, trains but falls apart late in a session, or is building toward something bigger (a 5K, a longer ride, a triathlon) and needs the base first.
What Changes
You move from struggling to sustain a few minutes of effort to holding real continuous output — a measurable capacity you didn’t have before.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this have to be running?+
No — every session is a time/effort target you can hit running, biking, rowing, swimming, or on a machine. Pick your mode.
Can I use this to train for a triathlon or race?+
Yes — it builds the aerobic base underneath any endurance goal. Layer your sport-specific work on top of it.
Does this include strength training?+
No. Pair it with Protocol 03 — Strength if that’s also a gap.
